In urban projects with a high water table, the barrier must work against artesian pressure both horizontally and vertically. Complex geometry — corners, pipe penetrations, diaphragm walls — makes heat welding difficult; this is where a GCL comes into its own: the mechanical bond it forms with fresh concrete keeps the seal even if the structure moves or shrinkage cracks appear.
