Oil and gas transmission lines, water mains and backfill protection.
A pipeline's coating arrives on site intact; damage happens during backfill, from sharp rock impact, and surfaces years later as corrosion. A rock shield absorbs that impact — yet its open mesh does not block the cathodic protection current. Using a closed sheet would mean protecting the coating while defeating the protection.
