Mining Sites
Leach pads, tailings dams and process ponds.
On a mine site the barrier works in chemical contact and on steep slopes. Together these lead to a single conclusion: no slope design is possible until the interface friction angle (ASTM D5321) has been measured for the project. A smooth geomembrane's 10°–20° friction angle is not enough on a steep slope; a textured surface reaches 25°–40°.
